LGBT Adoption

Partner adoptions ensure both parents equal and permanent parental rights and obligations until their child reaches adulthood . Each parent can make decisions on behalf of their child which the state of Wisconsin will recognize as legitimate.

HOW DOES PARTNER ADOPTION HAPPEN?

In Wisconsin, this special type of adoption requires a number of steps to complete. The bio/adoptive parent and the prospective adoptive parent will need to retain an attorney experienced in completing partner adoptions. Your attorney and your adoption counselor at Adoption Choice, Inc. will work together to ensure a smooth, timely process to complete the home studies, court report and forms required and will facilitate the timely filing of the petitions to obtain a court date for the hearing. There is a need for frequent communication with your attorney to properly complete the steps to ensure you are able to complete your adoption plan as soon as possible.

If you are an expectant parent or birth parent and have any questions about the adoption process, please call an Adoption Counselor at 1-800-255-6305, or send us a text message. A counselor is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. In no way does contacting us commit you to an adoption plan; it simply allows us to help provide you some information to help you make a decision that is in you and your child’s best interest.

If you are an adoptive parent and have questions about the process, please call one of our locations to speak with an Adoption Choice, Inc. staff member.
