It’s our favorite time of year!
November marks the calendar for adoption awareness! Designed to bring attention to the growing number of children in foster care, it has been broadened to all types of adoptions. Our agency has seen an increase in the number of families looking at adopting through out of state foster care.
During National Adoption Month, prospective adoptive families can learn more about the needs of older youth and opportunities to guide them toward successful futures.
It’s the 2015 intuitive to focus on the adoption of older youth currently in foster care—because “We Never Outgrow the Need for Family.” We are bringing attention to our nation’s population of older youth in foster care who need loving, permanent families. “Youth ages 15 to 18 make up 5 percent of the foster care population – 84,778 youth.¹” Creating lifelong connections for these young ones are critical in helping them prepare for successful adulthood.
Join us this month as we explore the history of N.A.A.M and bring you information on events, fundraisers, and the messages from fellow adoption community members. Help us celebrate, help us support, and help us spread the word!
