Strategies for Coping with Anxiety Webinar

Wed, January 31, 6pm – 8pm
What is anxiety? Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. Children might feel anxious when faced with various problems, including separation, prior to taking a test, school activities, adjustment to family issues, and many more. For a child diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not diminish and may become more profound over time. The feelings may begin to interfere with daily functioning, creating difficulty in the child’s activities, school work, and relationships. It is important to recognize that there are a variety of anxiety disorders. Examples include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Each child experiences their own symptoms of anxiety that are specific to their own life situations.
This training you will teach you how to identify anxiety in your child, strategies to help them cope, and how to identify when additional help is needed. We will also provide education about the different anxiety disorders and how to best support the type of anxiety exhibited by your child. Helpful tips will be provided to best manage your child when anxious, how your child can communicate needs to peers and/or family, and how to function effectively within the school setting.
