June 2 @ 10:00 Am – 1:00 pm
A three-hour workshop presented by Adoption Wellness; encouraging adoption exploration in a safe space and supported by an adoption competent clinician and transracial adult-adoptee.
What: This workshop is developed for and by adopted individuals. The tween years can be a critical period for any youth with regard to developmental milestones, emotional exploration and identity formation. For the adopted person, the additional complexities may add to the stress of everyday life. We will explore topics that include, but are not limited to:
✔ Talking about our adoption story
✔ How to deal with race and ethnic stereotypes
✔ Managing intrusive questions
✔ Exploring birth-family curiosity
✔ Coping with feelings of abandonment, isolation, sadness and anxiety and understanding how these feelings impact our relationships with others
When: Saturday, June 2 from 10:00am-1:00pm
Who: Adopted tweenagers ages 9-12. Age exceptions will be considered based on the child’s emotional development and maturity level. Due to the uniqueness of each individual’s level of comfort, we limit our groups to eight attendees.
Cost: $150 – Cost includes lunch and all materials.
